Every day, 11 tons of microplastics end up in the Adriatic Sea, transported by the Po River. AICA, in collaboration with E.R.I.C.A. Soc. Coop. and the European Research Institute (ERI), sampled the longest river in Italy searching for plastic shards.
According to the research “Un Po di plastica”, carried out thanks to “Keep Clean And Run” (our awareness environmental and sport event), every second Po returns to the sea 11.107 plastic shards, 5 mm average size and 11 mg average weight.
